Who should consider magnesium?

Table of Contents

If you clench your jaw, get night cramps, need three alarms, live on coffee, have racing thoughts at bedtime, struggle with constipation, or feel “wired and tired,” magnesium is often part of the story.

Magnesium is a cofactor in hundreds of reactions — energy production, blood-sugar handling, stress-hormone clearance, thyroid conversion, and muscle relaxation. Modern soil, processed food, sweat, and chronic stress quietly drain it.

Serum magnesium is a late marker. By the time it drops, tissues have already been running on empty. I prefer intracellular or red-blood-cell magnesium plus the clinical picture: sleep, mood, blood pressure, glucose, and recovery after exercise.

Form matters. Glycinate is often kinder for sleep and calm. Malate can feel better when energy and muscle recovery are the priority. Oxide is cheap and usually disappointing.

Magnesium is one of the most common “missing pieces” I see when people are doing everything else right and still feel older than they should.

Which magnesium symptom sounds most like you — sleep, cramps, or that wired-tired feeling? Save this if you’ve ever been told your magnesium was “normal” and still felt off.
