Strategies for Overcoming Challenges

Challenges

Embarking on a 30-day Paleo challenge can be an exciting journey, but it can also come with challenges. The fatty, salty, and sugary foods can be hard to give up because of the pleasure response from the brain.  Remember our bodies want fatty, salty, and sweet foods. Just not the super stimulating processed foods we eat.  We are eating the wrong types of fatty, salty, and sweet foods. These types foods lead to over consumption and insulin resistance. Overtime this will result in the body wanting more carbohydrates.

Eating healthier foods can be a challenge for many people, and there are several reasons for this. One of the main reasons is that many healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, are not as sweet as the highly processed and artificially sweetened foods that many people are used to. This can lead to a decreased perception of sweetness and an increased consumption of sweet foods to compensate. Additionally, consuming highly sweetened foods can lead to leptin resistance, which can disrupt the body’s ability to regulate hunger and fullness. Consuming these sweet foods can activate reward and pleasure centers in the brain, leading to a dependence on sugar and sweeteners. Despite these challenges, making a conscious effort to consume whole, unprocessed foods can help support optimal health and wellbeing in the long term.

Strategies

Changing your dietary habits will be challenging, both physically and mentally. It requires a significant amount of discipline and dedication to stick to the plan and make it through the first 30 days. However, there are several strategies that can help to overcome some of the common challenges.

Plan and prepare meals in advance

Meal planning and preparation are critical to success on the Paleo diet. Take the time to plan out your meals for the week, make a grocery list, and prep ingredients in advance to make mealtime easier and less stressful.

Experiment with new recipes

The paleo diet can feel restrictive at first, but it’s an opportunity to try new recipes and ingredients that you may not have otherwise considered. Look for recipes online, try new spices or flavorings, and experiment with different cooking methods to keep things interesting and enjoyable.

Find support

It’s important to have a support system in place during the paleo diet, whether it’s friends, family, or a support group online. Having someone to talk to about your struggles, successes, and challenges can help to keep you motivated and on track.

Focus on the benefits

Remind yourself of the benefits of completing the paleo diet, such as identifying trigger foods, reducing inflammation, and improving overall health. Keep a journal of your progress and note any improvements in symptoms or overall well-being to stay motivated and encouraged.

Be patient and persistent

It can take time to master, and it’s important to be patient and persistent throughout the process. Don’t give up if you experience setbacks or challenges along the way. Keep the end goal in mind and stay committed to achieving it.
