Key takeaways
Phase 2 of this mold protocol builds on Phase 1 and continues to support binding, clearance and microbial balance.
It is usually started only after Phase 1, with guidance from a provider.
Reducing ongoing exposure in the home or workplace remains the most important step throughout.
Phase 2 of my mold and mycotoxin protocol builds on Phase 1 and continues to support binding, clearance and microbial balance. I usually suggest starting with Phase 1 and moving to this phase with guidance from your provider.

The mechanisms this protocol supports
Mycotoxins are compounds produced by some molds, and they can be found in water-damaged buildings and some foods. The liver processes mycotoxins and sends many of them into bile, and animal research suggests some can be reabsorbed in the gut and recirculated, which is why binders are often part of a mold protocol.
Glutathione and other antioxidant defenses help the body manage the oxidative stress that mycotoxins can create, and a balanced microbiome supports the gut lining during the process.
Research has linked exposure to damp or moldy buildings with respiratory and allergic symptoms. The most important step is reducing ongoing exposure, which often means having the home or workplace inspected and repaired.
What is in the protocol
The exact products and directions are listed in the Fullscript plan, and here is what each one is commonly used to support.
- Proflora4R is a restorative probiotic formula that pairs beneficial bacteria with prebiotics and botanicals to support a balanced microbiome and a healthy gut lining.
- G.I. Detox+ is a binder blend that is commonly used to support the gentle removal of unwanted compounds through the digestive tract.
- Biocidin LSF is a liposomal form of Biocidin, and because the manufacturer is discontinuing it, another Biocidin format may take its place once it is no longer available.
- Moldetox from Apex Energetics combines caprylic acid, oregano oil, olive leaf extract and lavender oil, which are commonly used to support a healthy microbial balance in the gut.
- MediClear-SGS Chocolate is a protein-based nutritional shake from Thorne that provides vitamins, minerals and nutrients that support the liver’s natural detoxification pathways.

How to use it thoughtfully
Please talk with your provider before starting, especially if you take medications, are pregnant or nursing, or have a health condition. This page does not list amounts, so follow the label or the specific guidance your provider gives you. When you can, add one product at a time so it is easier to notice how you feel.
Sleep, nourishing food, daily movement and stress care are the foundation, and supplements are meant to build on them. Detox-focused products can feel strong for some people, so go slowly and stay in touch with your provider.
Questions to bring to your clinician
These questions can help you get the most out of your next visit.
Am I ready to move from Phase 1 to Phase 2, and how would we judge that?
Could any of my current medications or supplements interact with the options discussed here?
Would any lab testing add useful information in my situation, or is it reasonable to start with daily habits?
Which one or two changes would be most worthwhile for me to focus on first?

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to finish Phase 1 first?
I usually suggest starting with Phase 1, and your provider can help you decide when it makes sense to move to Phase 2.
Why is reducing exposure so important?
Supplements can support the body’s clearance pathways, but ongoing exposure keeps adding to the load, so finding and fixing the source comes first.
Do I need an appointment to order these products?
No, you can create a free Fullscript account and order directly, although I always recommend checking with your own provider first, and a free 15-minute consult is available if you would like to talk it through.
